"Spirit Rhythms": Chinese Music, Haitian Drumming

Melody of China teams up with Zeke Nealy and the Veve Vodou drum and dance ensemble for "Spirit Rhythms", combining Hatian drumming and dancing with traditional Chinese music. Yangqin Zhao and Zeke Nealy have come up with a striking blend of new and traditional works for this concert at Fort Mason Center's Gallery 308 in San Francisco. Melody of China is set to perform traditional songs featuring Zhao on yangqin (hammered dulcimer), Gangqin Zhao on guzheng (zither), Shenshen Zhang on pipa (lute), Wanpeng Guo on sheng (mouth organ) and Xian Lu on dizi (bamboo flute). You'll also hear original works by Zeke Nealy featuring his stirring drummers and dancers.
